The Discovery Trail in Washington is one of the most breathtaking trails in the Pacific Northwest featuring sand dunes, views of the ocean and gentle woods.
One of the most picturesque trails on the West Coast, you will find pieces of art along the way, as well as bald eagles, shorebirds and deer if you’re lucky.
The Discovery Trail is 8.5 miles long with the first leg following the coast line, turning east at Cape Disappointment into the woods.
The trail ends at a fishing village by the name of Ilwaco.
You can find parking near the trail on the beach parking lot off of Pacific Highway, at the end of Bolstad Street or at the Cape Disappointment State Park.
The Discovery Trail makes for a wonderful ride near the beach, and on the north side of the path you can find washrooms, ice cream stands and a chance to take a break before you head back south.
