Pack Smart, Winter Edition – Shoes & Gloves

Winter is coming. It is time to plan your winter vacation, and one of the most important things about it is to know how to pack smart for a winter trip.

The trick is actually to think about the essentials – don’t pack too much stuff, always dress in layers, and don’t forget to pack a hat and gloves.

These are the basics, but let’s delve a bit deeper into all the details about packing for a nice winter vacation.


Although we are always trying to pack light, this isn’t where you would want to cut. Your feet need protection, protection they should get. Here are basic requirements for a good pair of winter travel shoes.


Quality lacing – make sure they are easy to tie and hard to untie

Dark colored – this one is optional, but is wise to make them dark colored so they won’t show stains from mud and dirty snow


Another essential piece of clothing. If possible make them thin, light, but also breathable and Waterproof. Try to get a pair of warm and waterproof gloves that are also very thin and don’t weigh much.

It is also important they are breathable as this quality makes them wearable across a wide temperature range.
