With the right attitude, even trips you take on the smallest amount of resources can end up being a blast. However, if your manners are out of place, you perfectly planned vacation on the lush beaches of the most exotic island can be ruined.

The moral of the story: learn how to behave. In case you aren’t quite sure what proper travel etiquette is, here are some tips that might help you out along the way.

Keeping A Low Profile

You usually go on a vacation to enjoy yourself, but so does everyone else.

This is the first and the most important step of having travel manners and as long as you remember this, everything else should fall into place.

This means you don’t want to intrude on anyone’s relaxing time. To avoid doing that, make sure you keep the noise levels to a minimum.

Pack your bags on time, keep your voice down at night, and turn the lights off when you leave your room.

This especially applies when your place of staying is a dorm room. Staying at a private room is one thing, but sharing it with 5 to 10 strangers is completely another.

Polite And Clean

Among the most important things when it comes to travel is hygiene. You won’t have anyone to pick up after you, so make it your goal to leave the room as it was when you arrived.

Finally, if you find yourself bugged by someone who’s not following any of the rules above, it’s time to speak up. Politely ask them to change the way they go about their business, whether it’s related to noise or hygiene.

Arguing will result in even worse behavior with this kind of people, so in the case your plea isn’t answered, ask the management to give you a different room or ultimately change the hotel.
