The fact the Switzerland is the country with the highest standards in Europe certainly means that a trip to the land of watches and chocolate is going to be expensive. But it’s also worth the money spent.

With some of the best skiing and snowboarding resorts, and being the safest country with the nicest people make Switzerland a place to visit if you have the juice for it.

The Price Is Right

One has to be prepared when he’s planning a trip to Switzerland, because the prices there are not to be joked with.

But don’t be scared – with a little planning you can have an adventurous journey even if you are on a budget.

Private hostel dorms are an average of $77 a night, while hotels go for anywhere from $90 to $125.

Eating out can be a bit pricey, but shopping in local supermarkets and buying your own groceries can save you a lot of money.

One of your biggest expenses will be long distance travel, so make sure the airline tickets don’t cut into your budget. Also, get a travel pass – this saves a lot because once you get it, you bus, boat and train rides are free.

Once You Get There…

Most people go to Switzerland for the winter vacation, because it has some of the most beautiful and well-equipped skiing and snowboarding slopes in the world. For example, the Matterhorn is not only a supreme skiing site, but also a preserved pollutant-free sight that many admire for its beauty.

After skiing in the morning, you can have a picnic under Rhine Falls. The Europe’s largest waterfall is near the town of Schaffhausen, where medieval castles and cheap hostels are settled and waiting for tourists like you!
