The United States is home to several gorgeous cities, but unfortunately, for every locale with splendid parks and amazing architecture, another exists in which the only identifiable feature is industrial waste. The following are a few of the most spectacular and most horrendously ugly cities in America:
1) Bend, Oregon – BEST
The Pacific Northwest is home to many attractive cities, such as Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia. But there’s something special about Bend, Oregon, located in the central region of the state. You can bask in the glory of it all at Pilot Butte, an old cinder cone that offers a panoramic view of the city.
If you head west, you’ll make your way to the Willamette National Forest, one of the largest national forests in the country.
The Deschutes River flows right through town, and following the river trail is a great way to see some of the local wildlife. If hiking the trail seems a little pedestrian to you, why not try whitewater rafting down the river itself?
Bend is an outdoor paradise, with plenty of hiking trails to keep you occupied during the summer, and the Mount Bachelor ski resort serving as the perfect place to hit the slopes in the winter.
