Whether you’re set for a relaxing and calm beach or a busy business trip, packing is always the worst part of it. Sometimes it becomes really tedious, as it can last for hours and possibly make you miss your flight or just unnecessarily lose your nerves.

That’s why you need to learn the difference between light travel and dragging a large bag with you. Despite what most of us believe, there is a method for packing that can even help you pack all that you need in just 5 minutes, if you know what you’re doing.

Essential Means “Not Everything”

For example, if you are going backpacking, bringing only essential things pretty much mean you only need dry food, water, one change of clothes, and of course a sleeping bag.

On the other hand, if you’re traveling to a hot climate destination, bring just one of each article of clothing, except underwear.

Or if you’re having a winter vacation, wearing warm clothes while traveling might save you time and space you need to pack the rest of your winter accessories.

Let’s not forget bathroom essentials. Take only the smallest items, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shampoos, and put them all in one large zip-bag.

Preparation Is Key

Be ready for travelling by separating your wardrobe into warm and cold weather clothes. This will greatly reduce the amount of time you need to find that sweater grandma knitted you for Christmas, or that awesome bathing suit you never had the chance to put on until this summer.

Before you start packing, throw everything that you might pack on your bed – clothes, toiletries, jewelry, gadgets, and books. With knowing you only need half of that stuff, start picking things out and pack your bags.

By doing this, you make the whole process much smoother and less stressful, and you’ll spend much less time actually packing.
