Choosing your travelling companions can be as important as picking your travel destination, if not even more so. It’s a task one should never take lightly. You’re supposed to spend days and then some more days with them, often “trapped” in a small place of some sort.

Even when you “break free” from the plane, train, bus or car, they have to be in your near surrounding because it’s safer, and let’s face it – it’s why you travelled together in the first place. Alas, spending quality time with someone can be challenging when you’re together 24/7, so choose carefully.

Luckily, there are a few personality types with some quirks that can be quite useful on a trip, and the chances are you probably have them as friends.

They’re the one’s that amuse and lightly annoy you with their quirks at home, and that’s exactly why you should have them tag along.

First of all, you’ll need to organize the whole ordeal, and who’s better for the job than your detail obsessed friend who even organizes grocery shopping and cross-references shampoos on a daily basis?

Most of people hate organizing even the smallest affairs, but these people absolutely love it – the bigger the better. So why not let them?

When you all decide on a destination, let your organize-loving pal find something awesome for a great price; they surely will. Just don’t let them plan the activity part, they suck at that. That should be left to your spontaneous and fun-loving friend. You know that one that can have a time of their life in Albuquerque, the one that accidentally hangs out with A-listers and is generally loved by all? Yeah, that one.

Go with your friends’ flow and listen to them, they know what they’re talking about. Just make sure you don’t get lost, because that friend usually has no clue where they are at most times.

To keep that from happening, bring a friend that has a better sense of orientation that the average compass. That guy or gal is a walking, talking GPS system; he or she will memorize the whole area and will find a quicker and safer way to get from A to B.

Concerning safety, don’t go anywhere without your responsible friend, that will protect your passports and money with life and can kick some serious butt if someone tries to take them.

They will have every sort of medicine at every moment and generally represent your group’s advocate and probably research everything that ever existed just in case, even before actually giving anything some serious thought. Oh wait… That’s you.
